Home to the celebrated Hoysala dynasty for three centuries, the temples of Beluru and Halebidu continue to mesmerise over 700 years after they were built for the intricate carving and fine detailing on soft, chloritic schist stone that has made them iconic. The feature of these temples that have left all who pass through them in awe though is the engineering marvel of their locking systems. It attached separately carved panels in grid-locks, making them seem continuous and inseparable - like they were carved from a single rock!
